Created as a stand-mounted loudspeaker, the A1 brings key Børresen ideas into a more accessible high-end design. It combines speed, precision, and musical realism with a refined form that can suit a wide range of rooms.
The A1 sits between the X-Series and C-Series. Therefore, it creates a new path into the Børresen loudspeaker range. It offers advanced engineering and careful Danish craftsmanship without losing sight of value.

The A-Series carries forward ideas that first shaped the original Børresen 0-Series.
However, the goal was not to recreate the past. Instead, Michael Børresen and his team refined that philosophy for a new generation of loudspeakers.
The result is a range that combines established Børresen principles with a simpler and more attainable design.
Within this range, the A1 offers the most compact expression. Its stand-mounted format makes it suitable for smaller rooms. At the same time, its focused design supports serious high-end performance.

The A1 follows Børresen’s core belief that a loudspeaker should remove barriers between the music and the listener.
To achieve this goal, every part must work together. The driver, tweeter, crossover, cabinet, stand, and grounding system all contribute to the final result.
The A1 focuses on fast response and low distortion. It also aims for accurate timing and a coherent soundstage.

At the heart of the A1 is the in-house-developed Børresen DCC5s bass and midrange driver.
Børresen created this driver with three main goals: low distortion, fast response, and precise control.
The diaphragm uses a layered composite structure. An aramid honeycomb core sits between two carbon-fiber skins. Børresen then bonds these layers into one unified surface.
This construction offers high stiffness with low weight. Therefore, the diaphragm can move quickly while maintaining its shape.
The rigid structure also pushes unwanted resonances beyond the driver’s main working range. As a result, the DCC5s can reproduce music with less coloration and greater coherence.
The driver’s motor system receives the same level of attention.
A ferrite magnet structure creates strong and stable magnetic force. Meanwhile, two copper caps reduce inductance inside the voice-coil gap.
Lower inductance helps the driver follow changes in the signal more accurately. It also improves linearity and lowers distortion.
In addition, the DCC5s uses a titanium voice-coil former. Titanium combines low weight with high rigidity. Therefore, it provides strong support without slowing the moving system.

The A1 uses Børresen’s RP94 ribbon tweeter.
This tweeter operates from 2.5 kHz upward and offers 94 dB sensitivity. However, its most striking feature is its extremely low moving mass.
The aluminium-coated nylon and aramid membrane weighs only 0.01 grams. Therefore, it can respond to very small changes in the musical signal with remarkable speed.
This quick response helps reveal fine details, room information, and subtle changes in tone. It also supports clear attacks and natural decay.
Although the motor system remains fully hidden, the tweeter can handle strong dynamic peaks. It maintains stable and linear behavior without audible breakup across its working range.
The membrane can also withstand temperatures of up to 600°C without losing performance.
As a result, the RP94 combines speed with strength. It reproduces high frequencies with openness and detail while avoiding a sharp or forced character.

A driver and tweeter cannot deliver their full potential unless they work together as one system.

The A1’s crossover supports a smooth transition between the DCC5s driver and RP94 tweeter. It also aims to preserve phase behavior and reduce signal loss.
