In Nordic mythology Ansuz is the rune associated with the Nordic god Odin which translates into “communication through the god of wind”. It tells a story about wisdom, clarity and truth, all capacities that unde
rlines our audio cable philosophy of limiting negative effects to a degree where it is either removed or no longer hearable.
Every material used in audio resonates and imprints its own sonic footprint on the sound we hear – audio cables included. They are affected by interference from various sources such as airborne noise, disturbances from the mains and mechanically unstable surroundings, all of which significantly limit the performance.
Many of these issues are beyond our control and in most cases can’t be fully eliminated. However, in our quest to create the optimum sonic experience, we went to extreme and unorthodox methods to invent technologies that effectively bypass these issues to raise the sound quality to even higher standards.
Experimenting with different materials and their properties is mandatory on our road towards new discoveries and performance leaps. It involves thousands of attempts, of which most, unfortunately, are dead ends, but we firmly believe that this approach is worth the effort. The Ansuz 3. generation cables proofs that when we combine skills, experience, courage and hard work we are able to create small audible miracles.
One of the most significant changes is that we no longer make us of aluminum in our cables. Aluminum is popular mainly because it is affordable and easy to work with. But due to its brittle and artificial tone as well as the hysteresis effects it causes, it is in no way a suitable material for audio equipment. That is probably why there aren’t any musical instruments made of aluminum…….
Stepping away from using one of the most cherished materials in the audio industry is a radical move, but when pursuing impeccable sound quality, it was necessary. Cables are often overlooked and considered unimportant, but we cannot stress enough that high-quality audio cables are essential for maintaining high-level resonance control as they are prone to micro-vibrations just as any other audio product. Aluminium reinforces these oscillations. So it was a question of either suppress them a
fterwards and effectively lower the noise floor in a signal carrier, or simply just not use a material that’s inherently sub-optimal for the task.
Replacing Aluminum
We went for the latter, meaning that all aluminum connector housings in our cables have been replaced with stainless steel, copper and titanium counterparts, applied respectively
for our entry-level (X3 and P3), mid-tiered (A3, C3 and D3) and top-of-the-line (D-TC3, D-TC Supreme and D-TC Gold Signature) series. This change significantly improves the performance across the roster and marks the third generation of Ansuz cables.
In short, we have removed the causes, not just its symptoms.
Cutting edge technologies. Ansuz develops and manufactures cables based on advanced, cutting edge technologies. Ansuz cables deliver a pure signal flow that unleashes the authentic sound originally intended by the master recording. To achieve this, it is imperative to lower resistance, curb induction and reduce noise floor to a minimum. The more advanced the cable series, the more refined and sophisticated the implemented technologies, and the more transparent, holistic and authentic the resulting soundstage.
Exclusive protection. The housing is made of anodized aluminum with in-house made laser engravings.
Golden connection. The connectors are made of gold-plated pure copper.
Carefully settled signal handling. The conductors are made of shielded silver-plated copper.
The key operating principle of the Ansuz Tesla coil is to have two coils wound in opposite directions – one coil and one counter coil. In Ansuz words, this is called “A double inverted coil”. The two coils both carry voltage, and when one of the Tesla coils encounters a voltage spike, a counter spike is activated to eliminate the noise. Since noise spikes are pure voltage carrying virtually no charge, the cancelation is quite good, but not perfect. Adding more Tesla coils in parallel, increases the noise cancellation and the perceived blackness in the music increases significantly along with the purity and clarity of the sound. Ansuz uses various types of Tesla coils, as their individual properties ideally complement and reinforce each other.
Lowest induction. Ansuz DIHC technology reflects a key advancement in audio technology and is employed in most of Ansuz cable types. Based on this technology, we wind and configure our audio cables. The idea behind this technology is to ensure the lowest possible induction. When the coil and the counter coil are closely wound in a double helix pattern, induction can be significantly reduced.
