ANSUZ DARKZ ADJUSTABLE, MECHANICAL GROUNDING

Prevent Mechanical Vibrations with Ansuz Darkz
Ansuz Acoustics has created the Ansuz Darkz, which is a series of efficient devices to ground all components in a high-end audio system. They are mechanically tuned to allow vibrations a path out of the component and to keep various components individually isolated. The sonic improvement caused by Ansuz Darkz is undeniable and addictive.

ANSUZ DARKZ, MECHANICAL GROUNDING

Mechanical Vibrations
In an audio system, all components vibrate and resonate, and analogue and digital transports generate heavy mechanical vibrations due to rotations in motors and platters.

It is important to be aware of these mechanical vibrations, because even the smallest vibration has a huge impact on the electronic components and circuitry boards and it also generates new unwanted energy that will resonate backwards and forwards in the system.

For instance, in an audio system, the loudspeakers are the source of the most profound vibrations. Furthermore, amplifiers are subject to 50/60 Hz resonances caused by the current driving the power supply. Even DACs, phono stages and other low current electronics create internal vibrations, and compared to other electronic devices, they are even more sensitive to external tremors and pulsations.

ANSUZ DARKZ C2T

The Darkz C2T resonance control is created with three aluminium discs that have been treated with an extra hard anodization to optimize the material to lead away unwanted vibrations. The two upper discs float on three titanium balls to give the Darkz its resonance handling properties. the three disks are held together by a specially designed mechanism that allows the disks to function as intended.

ANSUZ DARKZ D2T

The Darkz D2T resonance control is created with three aluminium discs that has been applied with an hard anodization, glas-blasted and covered in an particle accelerator with a layer of Tantalium and finally coated with a diamond like carbon compound. This process makes the discs extremely rigid. The two upper discs float on three titanium balls to give the Darkz its resonance handling properties. The three disks are held together by a specially designed mechanism that allows the discs to function as intended.

ANSUZ DARKZ SIGNATURE Z2S

The resonance control from Zirconium results in an outstanding musical refinement creating a natural soundstage unrivalled in its purity, precision and attention to musical details. Although the audio impact of titanium and zirconium shares some distinctive similarities, the audio effect is definitely much more pronounced with the new Darkz Signature Z2S.

REFINED WITH SPECIAL COATINGS
The Darkz Signature Z2S is further acoustically optimized by applying the Ansuz Supreme coating on each disc. This coating is applied to each of the zirconium discs in a HiPIMS (High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering) PVD- machine to create the finest and most uniform layer of zirconium, tungsten and titanium, followed by a layer of titanium nitride. Finally the discs are applied with a layer of Zirconium.

ANSUZ DARKZ S2T

The Darkz S2T in stainless steel is sharing the same important features as the Darkz Signature Z2S regarding the resonance control. The tone is organic, the soundstage is natural and the music details are present

ANSUZ DARKZ T2

The Darkz T2 resonance control is created with three titanium discs without additional treatment, the material has proven very highly effective in leading away unwanted vibrations as it is, in its natural form. The two upper discs float on three titanium balls to give the Darkz its resonance handling properties. the three disks are held together by a specially designed mechanism that allows the titanium disks to function as intended.

ANSUZ DARKZ T2S

The Darkz T2S is machined out of solid Titanium, solid grade 2 Titanium and covered – in a particle accelerator during a 36 hours process – with layers of Zirconium, Tungsten and Aluminum Titanium Nitride for a further dampening of resonances. The resonance controlling balls between the discs are made of grade 2 Titanium, chosen for its durability and sonic qualities. The three disks are held together by a specially designed mechanism that allows the discs to function as intended.

TECHNOLOGY

In both the design and production phase, scientists at the Technology Institute of Jutland have played a critical role. Without their extensive knowledge about materials and their refined skills in operating the advanced particle accelerators, we could have never achieved this final outcome.

The bare Titanium discs are mounted on racks and sandblasted to have the proper surface finish as the appearance of the final product is highly contingent upon the surface topography prior to the coating deposition.

After sandblasting, the Titanium discs are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath and further cleaned in a water cascade with demineralized water to make sure they are completely free of any dirt and grease. The discs are then dried and stored in an oven until they are ready to be coated.

Prior to the coating process, the Titanium discs are mounted on holders that can be inserted into the particle accelerator. In the deposition chamber, large pumps extract all air that is in the chamber to create conditions similar to those in outer space. To guarantee perfect conditions of the vacuum, the coating unit with the discs is heated to remove water and other contaminants that are in the air.

Even these pure conditions do not suffice to achieve the desired quality level! A small amount of Argon gas is let into the chamber to receive a perfect adhesion of the coating to the Titanium discs. By applying a voltage to these discs, they are exposed to a bombardment of Argon ions. This removes the naturally formed oxides from the Titanium surface. Under these conditions, high-performing coatings can be applied and spread on the surface of the Titanium discs.

The acoustically optimized layers of Zirconium and Tungsten are then deposited on the Titanium surface, and finally a hard layer of Aluminum Titanium Nitride is added to obtain the desired surface properties and the intended visual appearance.

After everything is cooled down, the coating unit is vented, and the coated Titanium discs can now be taken off the holders. Quality control checks if the adhesion and thickness of the coating are within the set specifications. The adhesion test is performed by pushing a diamond tip through the coating and deep into the substrate.

The second part of the quality inspection consists of the measurement of the thickness of the coating. For this, a ball is being ground through the coating layers supported by the application of a diamond paste. Under a microscope, the individual layers become visible and can be measured precisely. After the Ansuz Darkz have passed the quality control, they have to undergo a final visual inspection before they are packed and ready for assembly.
